Shahar Pe'er was born on May 1, 1987 in Jerusalem, Israel. She is a professional female tennis player with height as 1.71m (5' 7"). She achieved her highest WTA ranking of #15 on January 29, 2007 and became the highest ranked Israeli tennis player ever.
At the 2006 French Open, Pe'er defeated Elena Dementieva of Russia, 6-4, 7-5, but lost to Martina Hingis, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, in their fourth-round match.
At the 2007 Australian Open, Pe'er made history by becoming the first Israeli woman to reach the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam event where she was defeated by eventual champion Serena Williams 3-6, 6-2, 8-6.
She is currently participating in Wimbeldon 2007 with Sania Mirza as partner in doubles team.
